GEORGE IV (1820 – 30) The official Coronation medal, 1821,Laureate head of George IV to left. rev The King seated to left, about to be crowned. By Benedetto Pistrucci. Silver. 35 mm. (BHM 1070; Eimer 1146; Wollaston 24)
A superb and very artistic Medal depicting the king in laurel wreath and the reverse a heavenly scene with the King being coronated. At the kings elaborate coronation ceremony medals such as this superb specimen were handed out as souvenirs to commemorate the kings coronation in Westminster Abbey. Mark on the kings face otherwise a very handsome example with some rainbow tone.
