1620-21 James I mm. seeded rose/small rose HALFCROWN - 1 of 4 known - EXTREMELY RARE

James I, (1603 - 25) third coinage, Halfcrown., king crowned and in armour holding sword, on horseback walking right, groundline below, reads MAG BRIT FRAN ET HIB, rev. square garnished shield, QVAE DEVS CONIVNXIT NEMO SEPARET, no stops on reverse, m.m. rose (N.2122; S.2666)weight 14.74 grams.

Toned and struck on a full flan. A pleasing very fine and extremely rare with this mint mark and 1 of just 4 traceable examples. The obverse mintmark on this coin is a ´seeded´ rose from the same punch as the equally rare transitional Crown, FRC obverse die VII. The only other example to be offered in the last 50 years (Colin Adams, lot 50) is struck from the same obverse die.
